In an article posted by Technically Media, Delaware startup companies in the CBD oil processing industry are aiming to grow the economy. EZY Venture, a CBD oil start-up owned by Bill Rohrer and Jen Stark, won a STEM Edge grant which allowed them to launch their own business. The CBD oil industry in Delaware is now referred to as the next gold rush due to the increase in the demand for CBD can continue to grow in the state.
EZY Venture offered the technology to extract CBD which other farmers cannot produce. Rohrer also runs an agricultural facility in Harrington and shared his fascination with the hemp plant. Stark, on the other hand, has a background in environmental engineering which got her interested in studying the properties of CBD oil including how it can be used for its medicinal properties.
The company which was recently launched is focusing on getting the equipment required to transform the plants into CBD extract. The extract will then be sold to other laboratories for refining before it is added into consumer products.
Stark expressed that “There are a lot of farmers that are growing, but there are not a lot of processors,” and “In fact, everything we hear is that processing is a bottleneck, there aren’t enough processors out there for all the hemp that’s being grown.” Starting a company in a new unexplored business presents many challenges.
Rohrer explained added “It’s exciting to be in a brand new business, but at the same time, it really sheds light on how we don’t have any infrastructure. If you look at states like Colorado or Kentucky where they have much more significant infrastructure; that’s where we’ve got to be going. It may take a year or two or three years, but we’ve got to get there to support our business, the farmers and to really grow the economy locally.”
EZY currently has several commitments with Delaware farmers. Their objective is to extract 50 acres of industrial hemp and 100 acres the following year. The owners believe that the market for CBD will continue to grow in Delaware.
